I love sports. In fact, it was my love for sports that got me into training. Once I took a strength training class in high school, I was hooked. For the rest of my playing career I was searching for the best training methods to develop my athletic ability. During my career as an Outfielder at Westmont College, I was constantly in the weight room, training with teammates. After graduating with a degree in Kinesiology, I landed a job at Titan Sports Performance Center, which was focused on training athletes of all ages and abilities. It was there that I got my first chance to work with a college team, as we trained the highly ranked UC Santa Barbara Women’s teams in Basketball and Volleyball (2003-04). I later left Titan to “go out on my own” and started Noel Piepgrass’ Training Systems, a freelance personal/group training business that I have operated since 2004. In that time I personal trained many adult clients as well as establishing a niche in the local high school sports scene. I enjoyed my work with the Santa Barbara High School boys basketball program in particular. I also had the opportunity to supervise the off-season training program for my Alma Mater Westmont College Baseball team. By the time I decided to go to graduate school and pursue a Master’s degree in Movement Education and a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning position at Boston University, I had built a decent little business. Going to BU was an incredible opportunity for me to work in close proximity to Master Strength Coach Mike Boyle (Owner, Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning; Strength Coach, Boston Red Sox and USA Women’s National Ice Hockey Team). During my first semester there my wife and I became pregnant with our first child and decided to move back closer to home. I jumped into classes at Fresno State and volunteered in the weight room there, working mostly with the Football team, while I continued courses toward my Master’s degree. By March 2006, I realized that life as a college strength coach was not for me and I accepted a position to teach Strength and Conditioning classes and coach both Football and Baseball at Central Valley Christian High School. I welcomed the opportunity to combine my knowledge and experience in Strength and Conditioning with my love and passion for competitive sports. I am now in my 9th year at CVC. In my time there I have been an assistant coach for football, coordinating the defense in my final 3 years, the Head Track and Field Coach (2 years), and was an assistant Baseball coach for several years before taking over the program in 2014.
My wife Megan and I currently raise our 5 children in Visalia, CA. We love to play together as a family. You’ll often find us hitting wiffle balls in the backyard, jumping on the trampoline, playing catch, or shooting soccer balls at the makeshift goal we built in the side yard. The kids have grown accustomed to Mom and Dad working out in the garage gym we’ve got at home, always seeming to find some fun/dangerous alternative activity with the resistance tubing, stability balls, medicine balls, or whatever other piece of training equipment they can get their hands on!
